For the second Confluence album ''Arkham'' (1977, RCA) drummer Merzak Mouthana was replaced Christian Lété.No particular impact though to the band's sound. They played an innovative Experimental Jazz/Rock with notable dives into Ethnic territories, almost entirely based on acoustic instrumentation and the omnipresent contrabass and saxes making the Free Jazz links more than evident. The album follows a quite laid-back and slow-motion path, which seemingly is its main problem, as I found the experimental vibes and folkier passages pretty charming.Confluence made clever use of percussion, cello and flute throughout the album and the all-acoustic approach reminds me of a richer and more convincing Orexis. The executions are very loose, even dark or melancholic with occasional dissonances and lack any kind of steady grooves, so the audience, to which this one heads to, is rather limited.
