Crosswind II finds guitarist Ogawa Ginji with a completely new set up, now supported by Kazuo Kobayashi on bass, future Sense of Wonder drummer Toru Soru, Yoshihiko Furuki on keyboards plus Kozo Niida on percussion. While not clearly different compared to the debut, ''Crosswind II'' sounds more enjoyable, cohesive and energetic. With some strong funky influences, especially during the opening side, and the standard taste of Japanese Fusion acts for very dense and interactive jazzy structures this work delivers plenty of cool instrumental parts with the electric piano, synthesizer and electric guitar leading the way, passing from pleasant Funk/Fusion rhythms and soft but efficient grooves to sparkling battles between keyboards and guitar and even some melodic themes. Mainly long tracks with progressive overtones, always driven by a special nod to Jazz Fusion, featuring changing climates and only some child choirs as present vocal parts. Ogawa Ginji's solos this time are pretty memorable apart from technically flawless and this fact alone rises the album's rate. Not outstanding, but definitely interesting listening.
